HOUSEKEEPER TURNED AUTHOR DELIVERS CHILDREN'S BOOK
Book Proceeds to Benefit Education and Literacy Programs in Liberia
Lynette Murray-Gibson, a housekeeper and philanthropist, has written a delightful children's book about the adventures of a cranky cat and the new, friendly housekeeper that comes to his quiet home. The Magical Adventures of Clara the Cleaning Lady: Clara Meets Mr. Twiddles is a wonderful storybook for school-age children. Murray-Gibson has generously agreed to donate the proceeds to her charitable foundation, which supports education and literacy programs in her birthplace of Liberia.
Clara Meets Mr. Twiddles brings the reader to the home of one crabby cat, Mr. Twiddles, who is very unsettled to find a strange new housekeeper invading his quiet domain. He is also startled to find that the kindly housekeeper, Clara, can hear and talk back to Mr. Twiddles-as a result of Clara's Very Special Powers (VSP). Children will race to discover if Mr. Twiddles gets rid of Clara for good-or finds they can be friends.
Author Murray-Gibson gained inspiration for the book through her many years as a housekeeper, where she met the real-life "Mr. Twiddles" whose name was Jazz Purr, and to whom the book is dedicated.
Murray-Gibson, born in Monrovia, Liberia, has actively supported the cause of literacy and education for the people of her homeland. She also volunteers for a number of charities in and around her current hometown in Minnesota. Her book is also dedicated to the children of Liberia, and Murray-Gibson has planned to donate the proceeds from Clara and Mr. Twiddles to build schools and clinics around the rural areas of Liberia; an area that has been extremely impoverished by an 18-year war. With her support, children will be able to attend school free of charge.
